Principal's Message

Tony Bennett’s foundation, Exploring the Arts, based in New York City, supported arts and arts integration programs at Torres East LA Performing Arts Magnet with a four-year grant. The legendary singer took the time to walk the halls and visit the classrooms of ELAPA in 2013, talking to teachers and inspiring students. His art education foundation helped the school build its dance, orchestra, choir, theatre, and film programs with grants for instruments and equipment, professional development and paid internships for students.

 

ELAPA teachers and students say a fond farewell to the man who embodied creativity and joy into his nineties. He left his heart in San Francisco, but he also touched our hearts in East LA.
