Assistant Principal's Corner

Mr. Legaspi is the Assistant Principal at Esteban Torres ELAPA Magnet High School and is in his 17th year at LAUSD.  He is also a proud graduate of Huntington Park High School, the University of Southern California (USC), and Concordia University Irvine.  Mr. Legaspi started his career at El Sereno Middle School, where he was the Band Director for 14 years and was responsible for the rebirth of the music department at the school.  In his tenure at El Sereno Middle School the Band, Jazz Band, and Drumline earned Superior and 1st Place rankings at Local, Regional, and State festivals and competitions.  Mr. Legaspi is also an Assistant Director of the LAUSD All District High School Honor Band that marches yearly in the Tournament of Roses Parade, he has been a staff member for the last 17 years.

 

Mr. Legaspi has also served as TSP Coordinator at Legacy Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) High School.  During his time at Legacy VAPA, Mr. Legaspi collaborated with staff at the school as an instructional leader and was able to help the school increase its Emergent Bilingual reclassification rate from under 10% to over 30%.  Mr. Legaspi has also led staff development and PD in instructional strategies, classroom management, data dives, and school operations.

 

In 2013 Mr. Legaspi was named one of the United Ways Inspirational Teacher of the Year awards and was the recipient of the Association of Mexican American Educators 2023 Dia Del Maestro Award.
